I often gravitate toward solids, or if I move toward a pattern it’s typically stripes. A bold print is not naturally this average gal’s thing even though I love when others wear it. With the temperatures starting to heat up around the country, and with music festivals on the horizon, thought it would be fun to share how to wear these fun, vibrant prints in rich colors and fun textures (i.e. tassels and fringe!).  Carefree, worldly and casual in a totally cool way.

Check out two ways to style the look, whether you want to wear it, or just play around with accessories.

I have some friends who are all about the solids. And, black. And, white. It’s totally OK; you have to wear what works for you. At the same time, graphic prints — even in black and white!  - are a fun way to add a little personality and dimension to your style. In our latest trendspotting post with Target, we’re here to show you 12 affordable graphic print pieces under $40 each that can jazz up your wardrobe… even if it’s just an iPhone case to start! Two colors to consider pairing them with? Mint and lilac. Both are so fresh for summer. More on that later. Which of these pieces most feels like you?

red lips, dress + hair

As a red head, I was intimidated for years by bright colors. While I might be pink obsessed now, I pretty much only wore blue, grey and black on rotation. As much as I’ve begun to embrace more color as I’ve gotten older, I’ve always been intimidated by wearing red. It’s just so. bold. It’s one thing to add some polka dots to your pants, and it’s another to wear such a stand-out and be noticed color.

So when I had the chance to partner with Discover Card to translate a red carpet look from Sunday’s Golden Globes I couldn’t resist the opportunity to wear red. After all, red head Amy Adams totally rocked it. How gorgeous do these ladies look?  reddresses_goldenglobes

I absolutely love how my wearable version of the red trend turned out, particularly by going bold with the lip, too. It balances out the bold dress. While I felt a little unsure at first, picking a great silhouette for my shape was hugely helpful — this was a steal at H&M! — and I kept it pretty basic in the jewelry department. Next time I might try nude heels and a bracelet stack. I’m now excited to embrace a little more red in my life, and 2014 is the perfect time to start.

You’ll have to check out the next page for my full-length look, including my bold jacket topper that I couldn’t resist here. After all, isn’t red + leopard a pretty perfect combo?! Keep Reading —>>

When it comes to shopping, this average girl is all about finding exceptional deals so I’m beyond thrilled to share that TAGG is partnering with TJ Maxx as a TJ Maxx Style Scout over the next few weeks to share with you how to style some of this season’s hottest trends. My local store was filled with one amazing find/deal after another — (as you probably saw by our Instagram feed); let’s just say TJ Maxx’s little carts come in super handy!

Today’s look is going all ladylike, with a focus on soft pastels so big right now. This shirt makes my life because the soft lace in ivory with sheer back is so pretty, comfortable and flattering. I wore it like this daytime, and made it go corporate yesterday with a black skirt and blazer.
